Tiffany Box Cake

Posted on July 14th, 2010 in Cakes

I am registered for a Planet Cake Basics 103 course in a couple of weeks and I always get a bit nervous before going, worried that I won’t be able to keep up, so I thought I would practice my skills learnt at Basics 102 and make a square cake at home.

My birthday is coming up soon and I have been thinking about what I would like as a present and I have been eyeing off a necklace on the Tiffany & Co website, so with Tiffany & Co on the brain, I just had to make a Tiffany Box Cake!  It is a white chocolate mud cake with white chocolate ganache.

I ganached the cake on Saturday afternoon and covered it with fondant on Sunday morning.  Even though I thought I ganached it quite well, when I covered it in fondant I just couldn’t get the corners sharp!  After that I kind of gave up and just rushed the rest of the decorating!  I couldn’t stand looking at it anymore so I gave it to my grandmother to eat!

Hopefully I will improve on square cakes after the course!

  3. Your cake looks wonderful. Think everyone can get a bit uptight about those ‘sharp’ edges. But I do wish I could get along to one of those Planet Cake courses.

  4. Thank you for your comments everyone! Hopefully my sharp edges will improve with more practice :)

  5. [...] found it really hard thinking of a design for a man!  I thought I could do a gift box cake like my Tiffany Box Cake I made recently, but I thought that was a bit too girly.  After hours of searching, I found this [...]

  6. Great work! In my eyes it looks excellent, but I know how critical we can be of our own work. I’m about to attempt my very own Tiffany’s box cake, was wondering how you did the wording on the cake? And how you got to that precise teal color? How many drops of coloring did you use?
