Hawaiian Thong Cake

Posted on February 5th, 2012 in Cakes

My latest cake was made for my lovely Mum’s birthday.

My Mum is going to Hawaii in two weeks, and I wanted to make her a Hawaiian themed cake.  I decided to make a thong cake.  I used the template in the Planet Cake book as a base, and made some frangipanis and shells to go with it.

The cake was carved from a 9 inch square white chocolate mud cake and was covered in white chocolate ganache.

I was very happy with this cake, and I think my Mum loved it as well!

Wedgwood Rose Cake

Posted on January 28th, 2012 in Cakes

My latest cake was made for my Nanna’s 83rd Birthday.

Nanna has a collection of Wedgwood plates on display in the window of her unit, so this year I decided to make a cake covered with some Wedgwood blue coloured fondant, some white piping and a large white rose.

My Nanna is currently in hospital, so we had a small family gathering in her hospital room and shared some cake.

Get well soon Nanna!

Christmas Cake

Posted on December 29th, 2011 in Cakes

I made this cake as a gift for my Sister’s Boyfriend and his family.

It was a six inch fruit cake covered with white fondant. I used one of my left over puppies from my Christmas Puppy Cakes and I created a Christmas tree and decorated it with gold cachous. I made a present and covered it with red disco dust. I loved the disco dust so much, I created a red disco dust covered band and wrapped it around the bottom of the cake. I also covered the ‘Merry Christmas’ message with red disco dust!

This was my favourite cake out of all of my Christmas projects!

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas with your family and friends.

Best wishes for a fabulous 2012!
